01.06.2012: DAAD renews the exchange program between the University of Paderborn and Beihang University, Beijing

The two-way student exchange program of the University of Paderborn, Institute EIM-E and Beihang University, Beijing, China will be funded for two more years by the DAAD. The exchange program is part of the ISAP project and allows four electrical engineering and information technology students of each university to spend a semester at the respective partner university. The student exchange is supplemented by an exchange of instructors.

Beihang University of Aeronautics and Astronautics is part of the Top Ten technical universities in China and despite its relatively expensive tuition a highly sought after institution of higher education. The exchange provides students of the University of Paderborn with an important complement to their studies at the University of Paderborn. In addition, the participants can get a picture of China’s culture and its growing economic power which is of great importance for future relations.

The funding by the DAAD includes allowances for travel expenses, insurances and cost of living for German students. Chinese students receive an allowance for cost of living as well as funds for language courses and tutors.

The cooperation treaty between the universities was signed in 2005. Prof. Bärbel Mertsching and Prof. Joachim Böker of the University of Paderborn have been keeping in close contact with Beihang University.
